Both the ACT and SAT tests are designed to assess high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work 

The ACT has a writing test that is optional at the time you register. The SAT includes a writing test that is not optional. Check with your desired college for admission requirements. Northwest Florida State College does not require the ACT writing test. 

Currently, college level scores are as follows:

  • ACT: Reading 19, Writing 17, Math 19
  • SAT: After March 1, 2016- Reading 24, Writing 25, Math 24; Prior to March 1, 2016-Verbal 440, Math 440
